Smart Green and Resilient Health Facilities
Rural health systems in Sub-Saharan Africa face numerous challenges that compromise timely and equitable access to sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health
(SRMNCAH) services. Frequent power outages, lack of digital infrastructure, and environmental stressors—exacerbated by climate change—further limit the ability of health facilities to deliver care effectively. Solar systems are not just an energy solution—they are a cost-saving enabler of digital health scale-up, quality care, and sustainability of digital platforms in hard-to-reach settings. In collaboration with partners, we leverage solar energy
systems and design and evaluate digitally enabled, low-carbon climate-resilient health facilities for SRMNCAH service delivery.
